Post 4 - Midpoint Reflection

I intern at the library, and this organization serves public. If library didn't exist anymore, people would have to buy books or use money to find information, since libraries are free. Since I intern at library, I knew that I would be shelving books. But I didn't expect libraries to be noisy. The similarities between IHSL and my internship work place's environment are that they both are useful (you can find information in both places), but noisy and I am not really independent at my internship, since both my teachers and supervisor tell me what to do. The relationship that I have with my mentor and co-workers is very friendly. They are so nice to me and treat me like other staff members, which is so helpful to me, so I don't feel like a left out. In my internship, I learned organization and responsibility skills. Also, I learned a skill that is required in my internship, which is knowing dewey decimal system - using numbers and letters, coordinates materials on the same subject and on related subjects to make items easier to find on the shelves. Knowing this skill is important while shelving non-fiction books. Some challenges I've faced during my internship are answering people's questions about where to find what. So I asked my co-workers for help. Also, internship schedule affected me a lot. I've learned how to manage my time. I try to do my schoolwork at school, so I can have time to rest. The calendar that I got from school has helped me a lot, so I will keep using it. :) One goal that I want to achieve is to read as much book as I can, while I still intern at the library, because other times I don't go to the library. The new things I learned are that the neighborhood of my internship site is very quiet with almost no people, although library is full of people. I also learned that the G train is very short (only 4 cars) and it does not come frequently.
The information that you need is just around you and it's free, you just have to make the
 move and get it.
